A MAN who walked through streets in Burnley carrying a rifle before damaging a car by firing pellets at it is being sought by police.

Detectives have issued this CCTV image of a man they want to speak to after a car was targeted by the man with the air weapon.

The Vauxhall Astra was parked in Coal Clough Lane, when the suspect was seen walking down the road before firing a number of small pellets from an air weapon.

The shots caused dents to the vehicle and some paintwork to chip off.

The suspect is described as white, of stocky build, with short dark-brown hair thinning on top, and between 5ft10ins to 6ft tall.

He was aged between 30 and 40 years old and wearing a brown long-sleeved top with white writing on the chest and brown trousers and black footwear.

Anyone with information about the incident between 2pm and 11pm on Sunday, June 24 is asked to call police on 101.

If caught on CCTV what were the Cops waiting for someone to get seriously injured. More effects from not having cops on walkabout, unless local Cop on flexitime as previously mentioned on other posts.

As I've posted on another thread, the police don't work 'flexi time'. If you beleive everything you read in the papers (especially this one) you are very naive.
In respect of this incident, I can only conclude that no one bothered to call 999 and report some idiot wandering around with a rifle on the street. If they had, the police would have been there within minutes.

Not so unusual in that part of town - probably just wandering back to Stoops.
