Hunt for Burnley ‘hit and run’ motorist

A HIT-and-run driver who knocked down a pedestrian in Burnley town centre is being hunted by police.

Officers said the elderly motorist was driving a red Toyota Yaris down Cow Lane towards the town centre on Monday at 11.20am when the car struck a man walking near the A&A Taxi office.

PC Neil Goodison said the motorist did momentarily stop but then drove off from the scene.

The car’s wing mirror was knocked off in the incident, which knocked the walker to the ground, but did not leave him seriously injured.

Anyone with information should call Burnley police on 101.

I wonder if the police have thought of asking local Toyota dealers if anyone has tried to buy a Yaris wing mirror?
