Burnley Blue Peter broadcast cancelled due to heavy rain

A BLUE Peter broadcast due to take place live from Towneley Park tomorrow has been cancelled by the BBC.

Adverse weather conditions and health and safety risks have caused bosses to call the event off.

A spokesman for the council said; “It’s disappointing but understandable given the conditions.”

Presenters Helen Skelton and Barney Harwood were due to film in the park this as part of the children’s programme’s Olympic Roadshow.

Council chief executive Steve Rumbelow had authorised emergency spending of £20,000 for drainage works to be undertaken after it emerged that a football pitch on the park was waterlogged.
