A FIRM which is set to create 15 new jobs – following a £150,000 expansion plan – has been praised by Burnley’s MP.

Solarlec, which makes solar panel systems, has major plans for its Billington Road headquarters during the next 12 months.

MP Gordon Birtwistle has toured the Caroline Court plant at the invitation of director Ged Rowbottom and he was impressed by what he saw.

Mr Birtwistle said: “It’s great to see companies like Solarlec creating opportunities and putting our region on the map.”

The company has also opened offices in Cumbria and Nottingham.

Mr Rowbottom added: “We’ve just had our most successful two-month period, selling more than 100 systems in June and July respectively, which has allowed us to expand.”
