BAKERY manager Duncan Lees was given a rousing send-off by staff when he said goodbye to Warburtons after 35 years.
The 60-year-old, who started work for the company in 1974, managed 320 people at the Burnley factory, off Rossendale Road Mr Lees, a father-of-three who lives in The Lees, Cliviger, was behind several of the firm’s schemes to benefit young people in the town.
They included sponsoring the Warburtons Youth Football League, the youth arm of Burnley Rugby Club, as well as supporting Burnley FC’s women’s teams for 10 years.
Through his senior position at the firm he was also involved in a range of fundraising events for Pendleside Hospice.
