Sales of Toyotas rise at Burnley car retailer

CUSTOMERS at Burnley car supermarket Motorpoint bought more Toyotas last month — despite product recalls by the Japanese manufacturer.

Bosses at the site, based in Rosegrove Lane, said sales in February were up 53 per cent on the same period in 2009.

The boost is despite Toyota recalling millions of vehicles worldwide because of mechanical problems, a move which has cost the company billions.

Jon Grace, general manager of Motorpoint Burnley, said: “It is clear from our sales figures that consumers’ faith in Toyota remains strong in spite of everything that has happened.

"While people were naturally concerned because of the recalls, their underlying confidence in the brand has remained strong."
