A MAN jumped out of his car and attacked another man over a long-standing debt of £18.

Blackburn magistrates heard the victim was walking along pushing his bike with one hand and holding a McDonalds meal in the other when he was assaulted by Anthony Webb.

The aggrieved claimed he had been punched about 15 times but Webb only accepted hitting him a "couple" of times.

Webb, 24, of Berry Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to assaulting Callum Taylor. He was remanded on Bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said the aggrieved was walking along Berry Street when Webb got out of a car and shouted "where's my money."

Mr Taylor told police he laughed and Webb responded by punching him repeatedly.

Webb told police he had been trying to get his money back and when he saw Mr Webb he "battered" him.

David Lacide, defending, said it was a long standing debt and the aggrieved and his client hadn't seen each other for several years.

"He saw him a few weeks earlier and asked for his money and words were exchanged," said Mr Lacide. "He again asked for his money on this day and when the other man laughed the red mist came down."
