A SLIMMED-down mum has pledged to take part in the Your Mile Your Way challenge on May 18.
Diane Smith, 46, of Rosehill, Burnley, dropped from a size 20 to a size 12 after she decided to lose weight and become healthy.
The 46-year-old said: “Your Mile Your Way is a great way to motivate people who don’t normally take exercise to get involved and I will be throwing my weight- although it’s not as much as it used to be - behind it.”
Mrs Smith said: "I went to the doctor and was told I was on the cusp of being diabetic and as I got older, I would have to inject myself with insulin.
“I was told I had to start being active or I’d be very ill later.”
After being referred to an exercise programme, Up and Active, her lifestyle began to change.
Mrs Smith no longer skipped breakfast, and ate regular portion controlled meals, whilst cutting back on unhealthy food choices.
She now says: “I can go clothes shopping with my daughter now and go into shops I would never have entertained before.
“In fact my daughter borrows some of my clothes now which would never ever have happened before.”
The Your Mile Your Way campaign by Lancashire County Council introduces a fun way to complete an mile, and it can be done by walking, skipping, running, jumping, hopping, or swimming.
The challenge aims to encourage almost 25,000 people to get moving.
