TWO FRIENDS who have endured a mammoth year of charity challenges have raised more than £10,000.

Josh Hindle and David Smith spent 2017 completing a variety of different tasks to raise vital funds for Pendleside Hospice.

From walking the length of Hadrian’s Wall to singing in a supermarket for 24 hours, there was no challenge the duo wouldn’t take on in a bid to raise money.

Now it has been announced that the pair have raised a whopping £10,800 for the charity.

Speaking about some of the tasks the pair have undertaken Mr Hindle, a wedding singer from Barrowford, said: “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved- we never thought it would get so big.

“The hospice is not a place to die, it is a place to live and, until you have been affected, you will never know the incredible work they do and how much support they need.”

They were inspired to take up the challenge after Mr Smith’s aunt, Julie McCaigue died in October 2016 after being cared for by the hospice.

Mr Hindle’s grandfather Dennis Royle was also cared for at the hospice before he died in August.

Helen McVey, chief executive of Pendleside Hospice, thanked the friends for their support by saying: “Josh and David’s year of challenges really got everyone talking and we are delighted they chose to support Pendleside Hospice.

“We rely on donations to help us continue to provide care to the community and the money they raised will support these v
