DETECTIVES are on the hunt for a man who exposed himself to a 13-year-old girl.

Police officers were called to reports of an incident in Cog Lane, Burnley, on Monday just after 7.30pm.

A 13-year-old girl had been walking in the direction of Rossendale Road, close to the Premier shop, when she noticed a man behind her at around 7pm.

As she turned around, the man turned sideways before exposing himself to her, a police spokesman said.

The man then made off on Cog Lane, with the girl going home and reporting the incident to the police, officers said.

Police have described the suspect as white, aged in his 40s and with dark brown hair.

It is believed he was carrying a grey petrol container.

Police are appealing for any information and urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

Anyone who has seen anything should contact the police on 101.
