A CAR caught fire inside a garage.
Fire crews were deployed to tackle a fire involving a white Ford Sierra Cosworth inside a detached garage of a house on Southern Court, Burnley just before 9am.
Officer said the owner of the car tried to the start the car, which hadn't been run for a few months, but couldn't start because of a fault within the fuel tank.
Due to the fault, fuel was released from the car and whilst the driver was turning the ignition the car caught fire, a fire spokesman said.
The male driver then came out and got the garden hose pipe from outside the garage property and tried to put the fire out, an officer said.
A fire spokesman said: "The owner kept the fire back without it spreading but the car is badly damaged.
"The engine compartment was gutted and the car sustained heat and smoke damage."
The driver did not suffer any injuries.
