AN investigation is underway after a car was found on fire and with its windows smashed in Burnley.

The incident happened at around 12.30pm in Briercliffe Road near the Baltic Fleet pub.

Firefighters said they could not say whether the fire was started deliberately.

A fire service spokesman said: "The car was found with its front windows smashed and the front seat set alight."

Police are now investigating the cause of the blaze in the Vauxhall insignia.
