A GROUP of travellers have set up camp next to a play area in Burnley.
Around nine caravans have been on the site at the corner of Harold Street and Cog Lane in Burnley for about a week.
Resident John Bountiff said: “They have not bothered me. They do not make a noise but it’s just the rubbish left behind when they leave. It also looks like they bent a gate to get access.”
Cllr Bea Foster, whose ward covers the area, said: “They have been giving notice by the council to move on and we hope this will happen soon.”
A council spokesperson said: “We are aware of a group of travellers on Hargher Clough Recreation Ground, who we understand are attending a family event in the area.
“Responding to residents’ concerns is our priority and we are working as quickly as possible with our multi-agency partners, following our procedures and have started the necessary legal proceedings to get them removed.”
