PLANS have been revealed to create an over-spill car park at one of Lancashire’s most famous attractions.

The application is for Towneley Park, the area that surrounds the historic hall in Burnley.

Green Spaces and Amenities has officially applied to Burnley Council for permission to create the new car park.

The council’s planning bosses are expected to make a final decision on the proposal by the end of the year.

It was submitted to the authority this week for consideration and a consultation has started where people can send their views to the council before a decision is made.

More information about the proposed plan are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

The car park for the stately home has 57 spaces while the Riverside car park has 400 spaces.

The woodgrove site has 400 spaces and the Pavilion car park has 85.

No information on how many spaces this new car park would have has been revealed by the applicant at this stage.
