A NEW mental health awareness event is being staged by the area’s community restart service at Turf Moor.

Medics at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and Burnley FC in the Community have teamed up for ‘Thriving and Surviving’ on Wednesday, May 10.

Part of Mental Health Awareness Week, it will enable both people to get together and find out about the full range of services on offer locally.

Rebecca Pope, a restart spokesman, said: “The day will include a market place for organisations that work in partnership with the service.

“It will also feature performances by local community groups and choirs, sessions by a creative writing group and lots of stories of how working with Community Restart has changed lives and been beneficial to local organisations.”

Abby Turner, Burnley FC in the Community’s health and wellbeing manager, added: “There will be plenty of activities for both professionals and the community to take part in.”

The event is set to take place in the Jimmy McIlroy Stand which can be accessed off Harry Potts Way.
