THE shadow Brexit minister Sir Keir Starmer will speak at Monday’s Burnley May Day festival.

The event is one of the longest continuous running May Day festivals in the country.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn spoke last year.

The day will begin with a parade from Burnley Town Hall to Towneley Park, setting off at noon.

Events at the park will start around 11am with the fun fair and the charity and trade union stalls around the field and in the marquee.

Other speakers on the day will include Burnley MP Julie Cooper, RMT regional organiser John Tilley and a speaker from Stand Up To Racism.

Sir Keri’s speech is expected to focus on Brexit as well as the General Election.
