AN important reminder of the work carried out by Burnley’s domestic abuse services is being pulled together.
Supporters of Safenet Domestic Abuse and Support Services, now run by Calico, has issued an appeal for volunteers as part of a Heritage Lottery Fund backed initiative.
Staff will be drawing from 40-years worth of work covering the service, which was formerly known as East Lancashire Women’s Refuge.
Volunteers are now being sought to sift through archives, take down oral histories, embark on commemorative textile projects and support a host of smaller events.
Earlier this year Safenet was boosted when Children in Need announced it would be handing over more than £132,000 towards improved provisions for younger people affected by domestic abuse.
People interested in taking part. to either share their experiences or as someone who has worked there in the past, are being asked to contact 07866 510728 or e-mail Danielle at do’shea@safenet.org.uk for more details.
