A WOMAN claimed benefits she was not entitled because she had a job.
Burnley Magistrates Court heard how in May 2015 Janet Wilkinson, 52, provided the Department for Work and Pensions false information about her job status in order to claim the same level of Employment and Support Allowance.
Magistrates heard that between November 3, 2014, and May 5, 2015, Wilkinson, of Sharpe Street in Burnley, dishonestly failed to promptly notify Burnley Council and the DWP she was working.
Wilkinson pleaded guilty to all three offence.
Wilkinson was given a nine-month community order with an alcohol treatment requirement and ordered to pay £85 costs, a £30 fine and £60 surcharge.
