BURNLEY FC in the Community has teamed up with Pendleside Hospice for its annual community day this year.

The event will see the Burnley FC verses Manchester United match day ‘taken over’ by the charities in a bid to raise awareness for their work.

Last year, more than £10,000 was raised to support community projects including disability sport, social inclusion projects for young people and for seniors.

Neil Hart, CEO of Burnley FC in the Community, said this year’s aim is to double 2016's efforts, with the money split between both charities.

He said: “Community Day is vital to the work of our charity, as the spotlight falling on our work not only helps to raise awareness of the work we’re doing to support over 20,000 people locally but it also helps to ensure we can continue that work through fundraising.

“This year, we are so proud to be sharing that platform with Pendleside Hospice.

“We’re encouraging each and every fan to get behind this unique event and come together to support our two, very special charities.”

Helen McVey, CEO or Pendleside Hospice, said: “This is the first of a number of events that will see us come together to raise vital funds to support the work of both charities.

“I am sure it will be a great day enjoyed by all.”
