PLANS to open a cash and carry at Burnley's Elm Street Business Park have been submitted.

Applicant Shafi Allah has requested to relocate his Durani Foods Limited from Colne Road, Burnley to the site.

In a planning letter, a spokesman on behalf of Mr Allah said the new space would provide business growth because its larger in size.

The proposed plans include 10 designated car parking spaces for staff and customers.

The proposals also include creating seven full-time and two part-time jobs.

If the plans were given the green light, the business would be open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday.

The plans will be discussed by Burnley Council development committee members in the next few months.

Police had no objections to the proposals however they advised the applicant that security systems should be fitted around the site as part of the planning conditions due to the potential risk of vehicle crime.

Davina Helm, designing out crime officer said CCTV, metal shutters and intruder alarms should be in place to help protect the area from criminals.
