A MAN alleged to have attacked a women in Burnley has been jailed for failing to appear in court.
Robert Ganley, from Burnley, was arrested and charged with assault after a woman was attacked in Hammerton Street in October.
The 22-year-old from Cleaver Street was due to stand trial in December but failed to appear at Burnley Crown Court.
A wanted appeal was launched by the police and he was subsequently re-arrested and charged with failing to adhere to his bail conditions.
Ganley appeared in court on Friday, February 24, and was sentenced to 28 months in prison.

He was also given a restraining order to protect the victim, a 22-year-old women from Burnley.
PC Oliver Tattersley said: “Ganley is clearly a dangerous offender who attempted to avoid answering for his crimes by going on the run.
“Fortunately officers quickly caught up with him and I am pleased he’s finally been brought to justice.”
