MORE than £2,000 has been collected after police officers went the extra mile to raise money for a cancer support charity.
A group of 50 response officers ran or walked from Burnley Police Station to Greenbank Police Station in Blackburn to raise money for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation last month.
Insp Andy Carter said at the time the fundraiser had initially started as a New Year fitness challenge but said he was hoping to raise £2,000.
Now it has been revealed the group has raised more then £2,250.
The officers who took part were based out of stations in Blackburn, Colne and Burnley.
In total they completed 10.5miles, going along roads in Burnley, Padiham, Altham, Clayton-le-Moors, Rishton and Blackburn.
The Rosemere Cancer Foundation supports world class cancer treatment throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria.
