TWO well-known charities are linking together with plans for joint events later in the year.

Pendleside Hospice and Burnley FC in the Community are teaming up as part of a new fundraising drive.

A statement announcing they will work together said the link ‘will see a number of exciting events take place in spring, details of which are to be announced shortly’.

This is the first time the two charities have worked together and staff and volunteers at both hope the collaboration will help raise their profiles and funds to sustain their work of both organisations.

Burnley FC in the Community is Premier League side’s official charity which runs 35 community projects across East Lancashire including disability sport, employability courses, provision for senior citizens and young people in the most deprived local areas.

Pendleside Hospice, founded in 1988, provides care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families living in Burnley and Pendle.

It provides care within the inpatient unit, day service and outpatient department and in a person’s own home.

Other services include complementary therapies, psychological support, family support, bereavement support, rehabilitation and spiritual care.

Helen McVey, hospice CEO, said: “We are delighted to be working with Burnley FC in the Community on some exciting new fundraising initiatives.

“We very much recognise the benefit of our two charities working together to support people living within our local community and we hope that local people will join together to support us at each of these upcoming events.”

Neil Hart, CEO of Burnley FC in the Community, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that we have established this partnership with Pendleside Hospice.

“We know what a special charity Pendleside Hospice is to so many local people and in the same way, our football club sits at the very heart of our community.

“It makes perfect sense to bring our two powerful brands together as a formidable force for good in the town and I would urge the community to support this partnership by getting involved in all our upcoming joint fundraising events.”

Further details on the events the charities are organising are set to be released shortly.
