AN investigation is underway after a woman had to be saved following a suspected arson attempt at a house in Burnley.
The incident occurred in Ivy Street at around 1.20am today on the stairs of the property.
The resident was in the living room and called 999 to alert the fire services.
Three fire crews attended the scene to put out the fire and lead the occupier of the property to safety.
The woman was given routine checks and suffered no injuries.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Crews were in attendance for one hour. The stairs suffered fire damage and there was some smoke damage to the rest of the house.
"The fire is believed to have been started deliberately although investigations continue."
