A BARBER from Burnley has spent the weekend cutting the hair of dozens of music festival goers, to raise money for a dementia charity.

Liam Hogan, 26, travelled down to the Weston Park, Staffordshire site of V-Festival on Wednesday, to set up a small barbers’ shop, close to the MTV Stage at the three-day music extravaganza.

He is a trustee of the charity Action For Dementia and they arranged with festival organisers for him to set up his mirror an clippers to give festival goers quick haircuts and beard trims in return for donations to the charity.

Liam, who lives on Accrington Road and runs Old Fashioned Traditional Barbering in Hammerton Street, was joined at the festival barbers’ shop by his colleague Stephen Clarke, 23.

Speaking before heading off to the festival, Liam said: “This is a different way of raising money and awareness and gives Action For Dementia a profile at a huge event with tens of thousands of people attending.

“Me and Stephen can use our skills to give people down for the weekend a haircut and hopefully raise a few quid.”

The Burnley barbers were set to ply their trade from 9am-3pm for the three days of the festival, leaving them plenty of time to enjoy some music.

This year headline acts include Rihanna, David Guetta, Kaiser Chiefs, Little Mix and Tinie Tempah.

But Liam was looking forward to seeing another act.

He said: “Justin Bieber is performing and yeah, I’m going to confess to being a secret ‘Belieber’ and wanting to watch his show.

“In fact I’m hoping he comes in for a haircut before he goes on stage.

“It would be no problem at all.

“I’d even tell him to get with it and grow a beard.”
