STARS from TV, music and sport will pitch up in Burnley next weekend to battle it out in a charity football tournament.

Names from shows such as Britain’s Got Talent, Gogglebox, Love Island and Ex on the Beach will be aiming for goal at Soccer Burnley Football Centre for Celebrity Football Hero which will raise money for charity Bullies Out.

Making an appearance will be Kieran Lee from Burnley, who has recently taken part in Ex on the Beach on MTV, and Storage Hunters’ Jesse McClure.

Mr McClure has been popping up around East Lancashire for the last few years, taking on a crossbar challenge at Accrington Stanley and filming a dramatic police chase and arrest in Burnley.

The semi-professional ice hockey player, who has been training with Blackburn Hawks in his spare time, said he is excited for the tournament to get going.

He said: “Call it soccer or football, I’m still terrible at it, but I’m as competitive as they come, so I’m going to bring it 100 per cent.”

Also making appearances on the day will be Team GB weightlifter Alex Collier, Sherlock star Gavin Lee Lewis and singer Josh Brennan.

The event will see eight men’s teams and two women’s teams take each other on in a knockout contest with some regular rules altered to spice up the contest.

Residents of Burnley will be able to come and meet and greet the stars and watch them battle it out for the trophy and a dance group from the Welsh Factor will be performing a routine before the final match.

Co-organiser Kevin Iddon, who has put the event together with Andrew Watton, said it should be a competitive but slightly silly event.

He said: “This is a family day that I think will be very enjoyable and will raise vital funds for an important bullying charity.

“I think it will be really good and competitive and perhaps a little bit silly as well.

“Everyone can come out and meet the stars who vary in their football skills levels, so it should be a very entertaining day.

“We’ve got some people involved who are good at football such as Alex Georgiev who plays for the youth team at Manchester United and Chris Jennings who is a no-league footballer.

“The rest of them have varied ability but a lot have taken part in charity matches before.”

The event will take place on Saturday, August 27, at the Burnley venue and to find out more residents can email info@footballhero.co.uk.
