A ‘SUBSTANTIAL’ amount of drugs were found during a raid at a Burnley home yesterday.

Police officers executed a drugs warrant at around 9.15am at an address in Albert Street and discovered around £800 worth of crack cocaine as well as quantities of cannabis and amphetamines.

A 16-year-old boy and a 55-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and bailed until Wednesday, July 13.

An investigation has now been launched and officers are appealing for people who may have any information to come forward.

A spokesman for Burnley and Padiham Police said: “Yesterday morning officers from Burnley neighbourhood policing team executed a warrant under the misuse of drugs act at an address in Albert Street, Burnley.

“During the search by police officers a substantial amount of class A and B drugs were found.

“One man and one woman were arrested and both have been bailed until Wednesday, July 13, pending further police investigation.

“An investigation has now been launched and enquiries are on-going at this stage and we are also appealing for anyone who may have any information to come forward.

“At the moment we do not have any further detail on the amount of cannabis or amphetamines that were found at the address yesterday morning.

“We are also still working on the exact amount of crack cocaine that was recovered from the scene by police officers.”

Burnley and Padiham neighbourhood policing team’s post about the incident on Facebook attracted more than 35 ‘likes’ and a number of comments.
