FA CUP fourth round weekend was extra special for a group of Clarets fans who got more than their five minutes of fame on television show Soccer AM.

The group of eight from Fence and Barrowford described the trip as an 'opportunity of a life-time', despite Burnley later being knocked out by Premier League Arsenal.

They were invited to appear on Saturday morning's episode as the 'Fans of the Week', after replying to a tweet from the show.

Andy Hakin, 28, who plays for Colne Cricket Club, made the trip to the London studios with his father Paul, and friends Peter Archer, John Blackburn, Sam Halstead, Ewan Melling, Dan Astin and Tom Bradshaw.

In front of millions of viewers, the lads met Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and former Newcastle United midfielder Kieron Dyer.

The friends took part in a series of games and won £280 in the transfer-themed 'Play Your Cards Right'.

They also came fourth on the fastest penalty shootout leaderboard, having to score against a giant cut-out goalie in the shortest amount of time.

Mr Hakin, who is Colne's opening bowler, said it was an opportunity they could not refuse.

He said: "It was an opportunity of a life-time. I saw the tweet Soccer AM had posted and thought 'yeah I'll go for this'.

"I gave in the list of names and who we were and I suggested that Burnley deserved more airtime and then we were told to come down to London.

"It was absolutely fantastic. We got to meet some great people and it was amazing to be on the show.

"It was surreal at first. We were a bit nervous but we all enjoyed it and were so excited we got the chance to be a part of it all."

The Clarets fans received an all expenses paid trip to London and were given tickets to watch Burnley play Arsenal at The Emirates.

Mr Bradshaw, 23, a batsman for Colne said: "The day was absolute quality and we had such a laugh.

"It was great to have that pressure off and not having to worry about travel or expenses as we were driven round from the studios.

"Andy rang me up and asked if I wanted to go and I had to cancel all my weekend plans to go there.

"Despite Arsenal winning, it was a great day and was great to see Burnley get it to one-a-piece."

A Sam Vokes equaliser after 30 minutes sent the fans wild but they lost 2-1.
