PARKING tickets in Burnley could be set to rise as part of a range of changes to be debated by councillors.

The proposed increases in fees and charges will be discussed by Burnley Council’s executive committee this week.

The increase in the town centre of 10p would come into effect from February if approval is given.

Cllr Wajid Khan, executive member for resources and performance management, said: “Burnley Council’s approach is about protecting and continuing to provide the priority services we are responsible for, and to encourage jobs growth for our borough.

“The commercial emphasis in this report is about ensuring that continues into the future.

“Carefully considered increases in some charges do need to be part of that.”
