DETECTIVES are still hunting a man wanted over an attempted robbery at a convenience store in Burnley.

The incident happened at Super Discount Market, in Briercliffe Road, and police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with it.

Police said a man went into the store armed with a rounders bat and a lock knife at about 6.40am on Saturday, August 29. He threatened a man working behind the counter and demanded money.

He made his way behind the counter and hit the shop worker with the bat before making off empty handed.

The shop worker was not badly injured.

The man is described as Asian and speaks with a foreign accent.

He is about 5ft 9in tall, of a slim build, thought to be in his early 20s, and was wearing a dark-coloured cotton hooded jacket, dark tracksuit bottoms and Nike trainers. He had his face covered.

DC Mark Zebrowski, of Burnley CID, said: “ We are still appealing for information about what happened and if anyone recognises the man pictured, I would urge them to contact me on 01282 472512 or on 101, quoting log number 357 of August 29.”
