A SCAFFOLDER has been left with a broken jaw after a pub attack in Burnley.

Detectives have issued an appeal for assistance after Mitchell Blacklaw, 25, was assaulted in the beer garden of The Turf, in Yorkshire Street.

Police say that the victim was approached by a stranger, who struck him in the face.

Detectives have confirmed Mr Blacklaw needed hospital treatment for a broken jaw and have now issued an appeal for witnesses to the incident which took place on Saturday, August 15, at around 11.45pm.

CCTV footage of a suspect has also been released by Lancashire Constabulary, in a bid to jog drinkers’ memories.

DC Lee Walker, of Burnley CID, said: “We believe this was an unprovoked attack and I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or who has information about the incident to get in touch as soon as possible.

“The offender was with a group of around 15 other men and the pub would have been very busy at the time of the incident.

“We have also released a CCTV image of a man who we would like to trace as part of our on-going inquiries”

People can also call Lancashire Constabulary on non-emergency number 101 — or Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555111 or at crimestoppers-uk.org The attack follows another incident, on New Year’s Day, outside The Turf, which saw a 22-year-old man left with a broken jaw.

An older man was later arrested in connection with that attack.
