APPLICATIONS will close for the head teacher position at a Burnley school at the end of the week.
The governors at St John the Baptist RC Primary School are seeking a new headteacher after Kieran Heakin announced that he would retire after 31 years at the school.

The successful candidate is expected to take up their role from January 1 and the closing date for applications is Friday, September 4.
A school spokesman said: “We are looking for someone who is committed to Catholic education who will inspire our highly motivated staff to help our children achieve the highest standards.
“They will celebrate the individuality of children and staff by becoming part of this caring, nurturing and inclusive community.”
Shortlisting will take place on Monday, September 14, and the interviews will be held on Friday, September 25.
