PUPILS at a Burnley primary school are set to benefit from a £10,000 windfall to improve their extra-curricular performing arts.

St Mary’s Roman Catholic Primary School in Holcombe Drive is one of 100 organisations receiving National Lottery funding.

Nearly £2m has been allocated across the North West to help local people improve their communities; other beneficiaries include help for young carers in Stockport, youth activity schemes in Salford and a new youth club in Chester.

Lyn Cole, of the Big Lottery Fund, said: “There are around six million young people aged 16 to 24 in England so it’s great to see such a variety of projects supporting people at such a key time in their lives. Local projects with ideas on how they could make a difference to their community can find out how to apply for funding from the Big Lottery Fund for projects from £300 to £10,000 by joining one of our 30-minute online webinars.”
