A WOMAN who ‘arrogantly’ refused to have a full breath test has been spared jail.
Ex-debt collector Samantha Weldon told police there was ‘no chance’ she was going to submit to a test at Burnley police station without her solicitor present, the town’s crown court was told.

Judge Beverley Lunt said it had been a ‘show of arrogance’ but it would not be just to impose a prison sentence on Weldon, who was also in breach of a suspended prison sentence.
Andrew Brown, prosecuting, said Weldon gave an initial reading of 49mg per 100ml of breath. The limit is 35mg. When asked to take a full test, the custody sergeant said her response was: ‘Get my solicitor’.
Dylan Bradshaw, defending, said his client had responsibilities, including care of her daughter.
Weldon, of Burnley Road, Padiham, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath and breach of a suspended sentence. She was given a fresh 28-day prison sentence, suspended for six months, and banned from driving for 12 months.
