FURTHER improvements have been made to the way members of the public can access Burnley Council services available online.

Council bosses are seeking to make it easier and more efficient for residents to report issues such as missed bin collections, graffiti, fly-tipping and dog fouling.

Improvements to the council’s IT systems means that online reports are dealt with more efficiently and quickly and are logged with the council’s waste and street cleansing contractor Urbaser, who will deal directly with the issue, rather than via council staff.

Cllr Tony Harrison, the council’s executive member for community services, said: "We are continuing to develop the council website to make it easier for residents and other people to use.

"We want to make it the first port of call for anyone who wants to report issues to us, who wants to know more about how to access our services, and who wants to pay their council tax or other bills.

"We are also working with other organisations to make sure people get chances to learn about using the internet, and can then use the computers at libraries and other facilities , if they don’t have one at home."
