A TRIBUTE card in memory of a Todmorden butcher, who died after being struck by two cars, has gone on sale across Calderdale.

Artist Bob Follen was originally commissioned to do a model shopfront of Stansfield & Sons Butchers, in Halifax Road, for Lisa Stansfield, as a Christmas present to her husband Wayne.

But tragically Wayne lost his life as he crossed Halifax Road in March, close to the Duke of York pub, and was struck by two vehicles.

Bob said: "I had a batch of cards made a few months ago. After the husband's sad passing I thought that I didn't want any money from the cards.

"I wanted to donate all the proceeds to the family so the money raised can go to them directly, or a charity of their choice."

Seven stores or outlets across Todmorden and surrounding areas are stocking the cards, including the butchers itself, the town's post office, the Burnley Road tourist information office, Duke of York pub, Kaffe 53, My Gallery at Mytholmroyd and Bob Art Models, the creator's own operation.

Wayne, 48, a keen darts and dominoes player outside of work, also left daughter Rosie and brothers Dean and Sean.

He was also interested in hunting, shooting and fishing but used to complain about his bad luck.

His reputation saw him feature in a Derren Brown TV show, based on good fortune, and he kept in touch with the illusionist after filming.
