POLICE are investigating a robbery that took place at Laithe Street in Burnley and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

At around 3.50pm yesterday a 46-year-old man from Bolton was approached by a man as he was getting into his gold BMW X5 vehicle.

He was then pushed by the man who got into the car and started it.

Police said the victim has got up from the floor and attempted to grab the thief through the open driver window.

The offender has then reversed at speed, dragging the victim alongside for a short distance before the vehicle has braked causing the victim to fall to the floor.

The car has then been driven off towards Berry Street.

DS Zoe Russo of Burnley CID said: “The victim has understandably been left shaken by the incident and is lucky not to have been seriously hurt.

“I would urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the police.”

The offender is described as a white male in his twenties, approximately 6ft tall, of a stocky build with short, dark brown hair.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
