A PROPOSAL to transform a former paint site into housing is set to be decided.

If approved the former Dexter Paints site in Gannow Lane could become a housing development of 27 bungalows.

It is the second time that Edgworth-based David Lloyd Partnerships Ltd has applied to build bungalows at the site.

The previous application, which was for 30 homes, was thrown out by councillors in May last year because of the potential for noise disturbance to the future occupiers of the proposed dwellings.

The Gannow Lane site had previously housed a single-storey industrial building which was demolished in 2014.

If approved the new plans would see 27 single-storey homes built on the land, all of which would provide access for wheelchair users with private and general public areas, landscaping, access and parking.

The houses are intended for over 55s and disabled occupiers.

The report submitted to Burnley Council said that since the previous application was refused, further noise assessments have been undertaken by a noise consultant.

It read: “The main estate road within the scheme will now be located along the eastern boundary of the site, meaning that the proposed dwellings are located further away from the adjacent industrial uses.

“Furthermore, the private amenity spaces associated with the properties in the eastern part of the site will now be provided to the west of the bungalows, again reducing the potential for noise impacts for future occupants.

The application is due to be decided by planning officers at Burnley Council.
