PROMOTERS of a mini-music festival in Burnley need to convince councillors that they are not going to disturb the peace later this year.

Gareth Hedge has asked the borough council for a temporary event notice covering a day-long gathering at Cornfield Farm, in Cornfield Grove on Saturday, September 12.

But environmental health officer have told their licensing colleagues that similar events in the past have generated noise nuisance complaints from neighbours.

And on the grounds the music may pose a 'statutory nuisance' they have lodged a formal objection, which will now be considered by one of the council's licensing sub-committees.

Mr Hedge will be offering two 'arenas' at the farm, holding around 200 people each, with one a barn staging live music and the other comprising of a marquee, for DJ acts.

The licensing sub-committee will meet at Burnley Town Hall next Monday (Apr13) to determine the event's fate.
