LITTERBUGS flouting a town centre crackdown in Burnley are facing a £75 fine town hall bosses have warned.
Rubbish and dropped chewing gum are in the sights of council officers as part of a shopping streets purge, to be launched next Monday (Mar9).

Councillor Tony Harrison, community services cabinet member, said: “We’re investing £3million in a major town centre improvement scheme to bring more people into Burnley and make it an attractive place to visit for everyone.
“We’re asking people to help support that investment by keeping Burnley clean and attractive and not dropping litter or chewing gum.”
Enforcement officers have the power to issue £75 fixed penalty notices to offenders.
Work on the new St James Street makeover, revealed exclusively by the Lancashire Telegraph last month, is set to include new paving, benches, features and lighting, and other work to modernise the town centre. The project is expected to start later this year and be completed over three phases.
