STRICKEN teenager Luke Mason will never fully recover from his injuries, his aunt said yesterday.

Katie Kirby spoke from Luke’s home in Mitella Street, Burnley, where she is caring for his siblings while his parents maintain a bedside vigil at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

The Blessed Trinity student was struck by a car while crossing Lyndhurst Road at 7.50am on Wednesday.

He last night remained on life support after suffering a broken skull and will be disabled if he survives, Katie, 29, said.

“It’s not looking good,” she said. “They tried to operate on his brain but it was too swollen.

“They are taking him off the sedatives but it’s whether he can come off the breathing machine.”
