MUMS looking to get back in shape after the festive period are being encouraged to take part in a winter buggy bootcamp.

The sessions have been organised so postnatal mothers who haven’t got without childcare can take part in fitness activities whilst being with their child.

The weekly fitness classes take place at St Peter’s Leisure Centre, Burnley, on Tuesdays from 11am until 11.45am and Thursdays from 10am to 10.45am.

All buggy bootcamp trainers are fully qualified fitness professionals, who are trained to understand what a new mum’s body has been through and know what training exercises are needed at different postnatal stages.

The bootcamp classes incorporate cardio and fat-burning exercises with strength training and toning, concentrating on the specific areas that need extra work after childbirth.

Andrea Pilling, project activator at Burnley Leisure, said: “A huge amount of each mum’s time is preoccupied with ‘baby activities’ and clinic visits with little time left to spent on themselves.

Studies show that taking some time out for themselves, especially to exercise, gives fantastic benefits for both their fitness levels and their mental state too.

“Mums who exercise are less stressed and they see improvements in their stamina which all together makes them happier.”

Sessions cost £2. For more information contact Andrea on 07974 419 098 or Devon Burnell on 01282 425011.
