CHRISTMAS arrived in Burnley at the weekend when the college opened its doors to visitors to enjoy a magical winter wonderland - complete with a giant, inflatable snowman.

Burnley College bosses even installed an ice rink for the day, and dozens of visitors got their skates on and took a spin on the ice.

MORE TOP STORIES:

The whole of the college was involved in the festive day, with activities, food, drinks and entertainment on offer.

Inside and out, the winter wonderland had festive wooden-cabins refreshments and Christmas crafts and gifts, and visitors had the chance to create their own decorations.

There were also Christmas stories told in the college’s Christmas grottos, and performances round the Christmas tree by PYO Music, a local youth orchestra, were interspersed with Christmas singalongs throughout the day.

And of course no festive wonderland would be complete without a visit from the big man himself, so Father Christmas paid a visit to find out what the younger visitors wanted to find in their stockings on Christmas morning.

Lancashire Telegraph:

A spokesman for the college said: “Winter wonderland got well and truly underway, with lots and lots of visitors enjoying the college and the atmosphere.”

Hundreds of Burnley residents went down to enjoy the day and buy some Christmas presents.

Lynda Booth said: “It was absolutely brilliant. We had a fab time and Archie came away with lots of things he made.

“Well done and thank you to everyone.”

And Amanda Watson said: “We had a great time. It was brilliant.”
