FIRE crews were called to put out a blaze in Padiham after a television overheated.
Firefighters from Burnley and the retained station in Padiham were called to the incident in Russell Terrace.
Kevin Birchall, acting crew manager at the Padiham station, said the occupant of the terrace home was fortunate to escape without injury.
He said: “Fire crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for fire spread and used a positive pressure fan to clear smoke from the property. There was no working smoke alarm at the property and had this fire occurred whilst the householder was asleep, the outcome could have been very different.
"All electrical appliances have the potential to cause a fire if they develop a fault. Make sure that sockets aren't overloaded and, if they are in the wrong place, contact your housing provider to see if they can be moved.”
The incident happened at 5.15pm last Thursday, but details about it have only just been released.
