BURNLEY Council is sending out reminders to people who need to register again to be on the electoral roll.
In August, voters in Burnley got a letter from the council’s electoral registration officer about changes to the registration system. Most people were told that they didn’t need to re-register but in some cases, people were asked to re-register.
Reminders are now being sent to those people who haven’t responded.
Elections officer Alison Stirling said: “We want to make sure that everyone has the right to vote. Having your say is important.
“This new national system means that every individual voter gets registered directly, rather than having their details given to us by the head of the household.
“In Burnley, it’s going very well, but we do want people who get these reminder letters to take a few minutes to register.
