AN investigation is underway into a suspected arson attack on an outbuilding behind a home in Burnley which was reported to firefighters just after midnight.

Crews from the town’s fire stations were alerted to the incident in Godiva Street, Queensgate, at around 12.15am today and found a brick-built shed was ‘well alight’.

Watch manager Stephen Harrison said: “The damage to the shed was severe and had also caused some damage to the windows at the rear of the property.

“At the same time, the crews dealt with a fire involving fencing further down the street. Investigations are continuing but the fire is thought to be deliberate.”
