POLICE are investigating after a teenage cyclist suffered a ‘nasty injury’ in an accident where a driver failed to stop in Poole.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and information following the collision at the junction of Ringwood Road and Alderney Avenue on Tuesday December 4 at 7.45am.
The 14-year-old from Poole was riding his bike when he made contact with a white Seat Leon car causing him to fall off into the road, injuring his right ankle.
Police Constable Steve Knight, of Poole police, said: “The vehicle was being driven by a woman who appeared to have a small child in the rear of her car.
“It is possible that she may not have realised she clipped the front wheel of the cyclist, but this has caused a nasty injury to the young boy involved.
“I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the collision, or may have details regarding the driver or the car she was in.
“I would also urge the driver to do the right thing and speak with the police.
“All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 04:257. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
