Great Harwood teenager groped woman in shop

A WOMAN who went to a late night shop for some cigarettes was groped by a teenager as she queued at the till.

Blackburn magistrates heard the youth brushed against her backside, which she thought was a mistake, but then grabbed hold of her.

John Patrick Kearns left the shop and the terrified woman, who had gone out at about 11pm to buy cigarettes and milk, ran home not knowing where he had gone. Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said the woman was ‘shocked’ and ‘very frightened’.

Kearns, 19, of Princess Street, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to indecent assault.

He was bailed for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
