Nobel peace prize award is ridiculous, says East Lancs MEP

THE decision to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the European Union has been met with anger by local MEP Paul Nuttall.

"This is a ridiculous decision. You only have to open your eyes to see the increasing violence and division within the EU which is caused by the Euro project" he said.

"Never a week goes by that we don't see riots and protests in capital cities against the economic prison they inhabit. Spain is on the verge of a bail out, with senior military figures warning that the army may have to intervene in Catalonia.

"The next stage of the EU project is to abandon the nation state. The last attempt in Europe to impose a new flag, currency and nationality on separate states was called Yugoslavia. The EU is repeating the same tragic mistake.

"Rather than bring peace and harmony, the EU will cause insurgency and violence," said Mr Nuttall, UKIP Deputy Party Leader.

The European Union won the Nobel Peace Prize for its long-term role in uniting the continent, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has said. The prize, worth $1.2 million, will be presented in Oslo on December 10.

The period since the end of the Second World War until today is the longest period of uninterrupted peace in Western and Central Europe since the end of the Roman Empire.

There is still division between European countries - of course there is - but these days we send our young people to long boring meetings rather than to die on the battlefield to sort them out.

My father's generation and my grandfather's generation went to war in Europe to resolve problems, my uncle never came back. My children will have never had to do this and I hope the same for the next generation. If they have to sit through some long boring European Union meetings which come out with some messy compromise to make this happen, i can live with that.

do you really think that the EU kept the Russians out and further war.

I think the peace in europe is more down to NATO than the European Union (and dont forget we were late comers to this party) and anyone who knows anything about Nato would know that all of europe with the exception of the UK has had little input ..... with the vast majorithy of funds and military might coming from the US.

No mate this smacks of ' pin in the dartboard choice' ....
It is as ridiculous as giving it to Obama.

The EU is jobs for the boys..... and I have worked over there and it would make your toes curl if you had any sense of moral decency to see the money that lot waste....could have bailed out every bank twice over .... Mr Nuttal et al. Puts our shower of Politicians in the shade.... expenses.... dont get me going.

I wonder if we'd have the levels of equality and secularism we have now if it wasn't for the EU. With the Christians on one side and the muslims on the other, I'm just glad there's some common sense coming from somewhere.

I think it is a fine award. Definitely worthy winners after all. Dishing out peace in various countries around the world keeps you all in check. Makes sure you toe the line and hand over your oils and precious minerals all nice and peaceful like.

Jimmy Saville handed over quite a lot of minerals by all accounts.

If there is anyone pursuing a 'one world government agenda' we can at least be relieved that they are incompetent and useless. The number of independent nation states has been growing for several decades and shows no sign of stopping.

The last new independent country to be formed was South Sudan in 2011 and there are several other potential new countries with a reasonable chance of splitting away from their current nation.

On the other hand, i can't remember the last time two countries formally merged into one country.

"They" (the elite) are talking about a "new world order", it isn't some far out conspiracy theory.
