Darwen ale festival ready for go-ahead

FIFTEEN venues have signed up to take part in the first Darwen real ale and cider festival next month.

The 10-day festival will run from November 30 to December 9.

The pubs and clubs signed up so far are The Anchor, The Alexandra, Hollins Grove Conservative Club, The Engineers, The British Queen, The Millstone, The Bridgewater, Bridge Street Social Club, Number 39 Hopstar Brewery Tap, The Belgrave, The Black Horse, The Spinners Arms, The Swan, The Greenfield and The Park.

Each pub has contributed £30 towards a personalised banner for the front of their pub.

The total cost of the festival so far is £1,316, with the majority coming from town council funds.
